NARDI and the “Marmi del Doge”
Verona ¦17th-21st September 09
New interpretations and trials in the design field for Nardi's participation in the "Marmi del Doge” exhibition, an event maintained by the designer Raffaello Galiotto who, taking suggestions from the marble in the Palazzo Ducale in Venice and working with some marble masons in Valle del Chiampo, created environments and objects dedicated to the contemporary hospitality and greeting of the highest artistic quality. Palazzo Ducale reflecting on the waters of the Venetian lagoon, Palazzo Ducale and its play with light filtering through the perforated facade … the adaptability of the natural element, marble, well back to the fore of international design, confirming and comparing history and traditional in present day terms. Unedited transpositions and three-dimensional developments, an interpretative work by i marmi del doge

the designer based on aspects relevant to sculptures, paintings and the bi-dimensional aspect of marble on the facade of the Palazzo dei Dogi, developing over a 250m2 space, designed by the Visto architectural studio, divided in four rooms dedicated to the hotel industry (contract): reception, lounge, rooms and SPA.
“Interpreting the suggestions of marble in the Palazzo Ducale and working with precious marble, Galiotto – and the marble masons in Valle del Chiampo – created objects and

environments for contemporary use, of the highest artistic quality (but also open to functionality and reproduction) aimed at hospitality and greeting. If these objects and these rooms generally lead to understanding the memory of the Palazzo Ducale, their “destination” bears the seal of the historic role – and current role – of Venice as a welcoming "gateway" between the East and West, a meeting place and location of dialogue between people, populations, cultures and religions.”
Massimo Cacciari, Mayor of Venice for "Marmi del Doge”
